Sheep fencing

A sheep fence is installed to serve various purposes, such as stopping sheep, goats and chickens, providing security around ponds and pools and protecting vegetable gardens and trees. These versatile fences not only provide protection for animals and crops, but also contribute to the safety and aesthetics of the environment in which they are placed.

Made-to-measure sheep fencing

We supply sheep fencing, also known as sheep fencing or chestnut fencing, made from chestnut wood and increasingly from acacia wood (Robinia sheep fence). The struts for the fencing are mechanically cleaved, creating a rustic, natural and decorative appearance.

A point is cut on one side of the sticks. The sticks are then woven together with 1.8-millimetre-thick galvanised iron wire on the fencing machine and rolled into a 5- or 10-metre roll. The height of the fencing varies from 60, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150 or 180 centimetres. The distance between the vertical slats (batten spacing) can also vary, with the most commonly requested distances being 4-5 centimetres and 8-9 centimetres.

The choice of batten spacing depends on the function of the fencing. For restraining smaller animals (think rabbits, chickens or small dogs), a shorter batten spacing of 4-5 cm is recommended. For larger animals (e.g. sheep, goats or larger dogs), the larger batten spacing of 8-9 cm is usually used.

Why a Robinia sheep fence?

Robinia, also known as acacia, is one of the most durable European hardwood species. Thanks to its natural resistance to wood rot, as well as its sturdy structure, Robinia is known for its durability and long lifespan (at least 20 years), even under demanding conditions. Robinia offers not only a robust and safe fence, but also a natural appearance. These properties make Robinia hardwood ideal for our sheep fencing.
